- Authorities held a press conference approximately 3 hours after the incident occurred, which was approximately 8:30 PM (EST). New York Police Department Commissioner James O’Neill said the explosion happened at 131 West 23rd Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The explosion was witnessed by officers; 29 people were injured, 24 transported to hospital. The majority of the injuries are not life threatening, but one is serious.
