New UK statistics reveal almost half of all HIV diagnoses are in London
- 6,095 people were diagnosed with HIV in 2015 (4,551 men and 1,537 women), and 39% were diagnosed at a late stage of the infection, when they are at risk of serious illness or dying prematurely. The 2014 figure was 6,151, so this represents a slight fall in numbers. Of the 6,095, 54% (3,320) were gay and bisexual men.
